I’m so glad you found my sci fi website! If you’re anything like me, you devour science fiction faster than you can find it. And during your quest for the next great sci fi story, you stumbled onto my page. But you’ve never heard of Ava Lock before. So what gives?
Sure, this is a clean-looking website. Nice logo. Fancy animation. Cute icons. Fast! But what you really want to know is if my science fiction stories are any good. Let’s face it. A lot of writers overhype their books on social media, but in the end, their stories don’t deliver.
It’s tough being new
I’m going to be honest with you. I’m just starting out, and I know I have to earn your trust as a reader. For the past couple years, I’ve been writing in isolation. It’s been a dreamy break from reality, but I knew the day would come when I’d have to get back online. And after I finished my third sci fi book, I realized that it was time to start sharing my work. So, for the past few months, I’ve been pondering how to break through all the online noise. How do I find real science fiction readers? In short, how will I win you over?
FREE sci fi samples!
I thought of the friendly lady handing out tasty tidbits at the grocery store. How does she get you to try something new? She let’s you taste a free sample, then offers you a coupon. If you like it and want more–you buy. So, how does a writer get a reader to try something new? She let’s you read short stories for free, then gives you exclusive discounts on her future sci fi books.
So, I decided that’s what I’m going to do. All I ask is that if you love something, please post a comment. And if a story lingers with you… If it grips you and just won’t let you go… Tell a friend. Heck, while you’re at it, come follow me on Twitter and tell me!
My science fiction
Short sci fi
I write short stories when a new character, technology, or setting demands more of my time than my current science fiction novel will allow. So, when the muse demands, I take a detour from my larger work and write something short. Sometimes these short stories read more like fantasy or horror. But always, the result is… Amazing.

Sci fi books
I bet you want to read science fiction books too, and I wish I could share my longer works with you right now. But once I finish a novel, I start querying it to literary agents. And traditional publishing moves at a snail’s pace. I can’t self-publish and sell the same novel to a publisher. It just doesn’t work that way. So, I can’t share these great new science fiction books with you yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about them.
My science fiction books in progress
- The Cookie Rifkin Series:
- ALPHA BOTS (querying)
- BETA BITCHES (plotting)
- GAMMA GODS (plotting)
- OMEGA ORDER (plotting)
- DIESEL GIRL (drafting)
Why you matter
Finally, I want to ask you to take a moment to follow my website. You might think it’s no big thing, but having a list of real science fiction readers who are following my work is vital to my success in traditional publishing. They call it “building a platform.”
I need to be able to count my science fiction readers, not just web traffic. You can help me do that by following AvaLock.com. Every three months, I’ll send you a very short email with a link to a new FREE short story. That’s it. No spam. No boring writer chat. Just a direct link to the newest story online. By following, you’ll help me add a verifiable number to my query letters. Thanks to you, I’ll be able to say, “See Miss Agent, I’ve got over 7,700 readers waiting to read my next story.” That’s HUGE.
You’ve been kind enough to read this far, so, please take a moment to fill in your email address and click the “follow” button. If it hasn’t already, a pop-up window should appear any second now.
Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself. And as always, thank you for reading.
